L’economia lineare si basa sul principio del : “ Prendere, Usare, Smaltire” . Questo modello economico si basa su una grande quantità di materiali, facilmente reperibili, e con un utilizzo di energia a basso costo. Questo modello sta raggiungendo il suo limite fisico.
“ dalla culla alla tomba”
Nell’ economia lineare il flusso è unidirezionale. Le materie prime vengono estratte dall’ambiente, trasformate in prodotti, ed eventualmente smaltite.
In questo sistema si cerca solo di ridurre al minimo il volume e le tossicità. Lo smaltimento è limitato in quanto i materiali non sono stati progettati per essere “ riciclati ”.
L’economia lineare è “pensiero logico”,sequenziale , una precisa strategia che si svolge senza interruzioni, dove esiste un INIZIO e una FINE. Un percorso che si svolge da un punto all’altro e dove le ” CORREZIONI” non rappresentano un problema.
L’economia circolare è RISTORATRICE e RIGENERANTE, in quanto mira a mantenere i prodotti, i componenti e i materiali al loro più alto valore di utilità, consentendo ai materiali di mantenere il loro “ staus” di risorse.

L’economia circolare è un ciclo di SVILUPPO POSITIVO. Valorizza il “capitale naturale”, ottimizza le risorse e riduce al minimo la gestione dello smaltimento, creando “cicli di valore”. L’economia circolare è progettata per “ auto-rigenerarsi”.
L’economia circolare mette INSIEME i vari componenti, per ri-acquistare un nuovo equilibrio, dove ogni componente ha pari valore, la stessa importanza. Un ciclo senza INIZIO e senza FINE, dove tutti vedono la stessa cosa ma da angolature di-verse.
Il “concetto” si distingue in due cicli, due “ metabolismi” : Biologico e Tecnico
Nel bio-ciclo, i processi vitali rigenerano i materiali disordinati, con o senza l’ intervento umano, in una vera “ economia circolare”.
Nel ciclo tecnico, selezionando tecnologie e processi che utilizzano risorse, energie, rinnovabili o meglio performanti, l’intervento umano recupera e “ restaura” i materiali e ricrea ordine.
Le risorse sono rigenerate nel bio-ciclo, recuperate e restaurate nel ciclo tecnico.
I fondamenti dell’economia circolare :
Progettare i rifiuti
I rifiuti non esistono in quanto i componenti biologici e tecnici (o ‘materiali’) di un prodotto sono progettati con l’ intenzione di adattarsi all’interno di un ciclo biologico o di materiali tecnici.
I materiali biologici non sono tossici e possono essere semplicemente compostati.
I materiali tecnici, leghe e altri composti artificiali , sono stati progettati per essere utilizzati di nuovo utilizzando energie rinnovabili, alimentando nuovamente il processo come materia prima grezza.
Il Design sostenibile, un design che concepisce il prodotto in modo da essere , riparabile, migliorabile, rifabbricato o riciclato.
Costruire la resilienza attraverso la diversità
La modularità, la versatilità e l’adattabilità sono apprezzate caratteristiche che devono essere la priorità in un mondo in rapida evoluzione. I sistemi con molti collegamenti sono più resistenti di fronte a shock esterni rispetto ai sistemi costruiti semplicemente per la massimizzazione dell’efficienza.

nel promuovere vantaggi competitivi

Il sistema ha come scopo di funzionare con energie rinnovabile, riducendo al minimo gli ingressi di combustibili fossili, provenienti dalla “ catena” dei fornitori
Pensare a sistemi
La capacità di comprendere, che in un “ insieme” , tutti i sistemi si influenzano è cruciale.
I sistemi , che partecipano al processo circolare e sono considerati in relazione ai loro contesti ambientali e sociali,non possono essere gestiti in senso convenzionale . L’economia lineare richiede invece una maggiore flessibilità e un adattamento più frequente con il mutare delle circostanze.
Pensare a cascata
Per i materiali biologici, la creazione di valore sta nella possibilità di estrarre valore aggiunto dai prodotti attraverso altre applicazioni. “ il sottoprodotto di una diventa la risorsa di un’altra”
